It's the most wonderful time of the year....

(Torn by Ronny Kobo Milana top, GAP black tank)

So far so good as far as the Christmas presents, cookies and food goes. Personally, I be happy just spending time with my family, but Christmas cookies (and presents) don't hurt. Happy Holidays everyone!

So far I'm having a great holiday season. My room is clean, the house is dusted, I've visited with friends and made (and eaten) raspberry streusel bars. I'm not a fan of store made pie crusts and doughs, so I made everything from scratch. 3 hours (and several sticks of butter) later, I had my favorite snack. YUM! I hope you are enjoying the holidays as well. Until next time (maybe next year...)

That universal mind control...

My semester is over and I'm finally home. YAY! Also, this scarf is my new best friend (and the Ronny Kobo top too). Merry Christmas to ME!

I'm coming home. I'm coming home.

(GAP striped shirt, Old Navy head scarf, Vintage vest, California Academy of Sciences geode necklace, Madewell faux fur scarf)

Here are some leftover pictures from the other day, featuring... drumroll please.... my new faux fur scarf from Madewell. I ordered the brown color, brunette I think, but somehow ended up with gray. I was going to return it, but I got attached to the gray color and the scarf's glorious fuzziness, so I kept it. *No animals were harmed in the making of this blog post.*

All dressed up...

Hello again! It's been a while. I'd like to take this posting opportunity to introduce you to a little dilemma I've been having.... LACK OF FORMALS.  My college (and probably college in general), just does not give me enough opportunities to dress up. I'll take any excuse to play with my makeup, create a new updo, and put on a party dress, like this lovely little number from Allen Company Inc. If only I had somewhere to wear it!

Sometimes I go out by myself and I look across the water...

I never really liked Amy Winehouse, until now. They say there's an exception to every rule, well the song "Valerie" is that exception. I've always had a thing for Doo Wop. Oh, and this is what happens to my hair when I don't feel like doing schoolwork.

Hello again. Here's a little sunshine (Gerald Decock's AMAZING home [via]) for a grey day.

This WILL be mine.

I think the world of you...

(DIY black bow headband, Land's End yellow cashmere sweater, California Academy of Sciences geode necklace, Abercrombie vest, Target lace skirt, LA Made leggings, Falke leg warmers, Vintage Boots)

I'm going home for Thanksgiving Break tomorrow! I finally get to sleep in my own bed, raid a fully stocked refrigerator, see my family, have bare feet in the shower (and not get scabies), do laundry for free (or if I'm lucky maybe have my momma do it), and eat lots of turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Oh Happy Day! My parents will have to roll me into the car and back to college.
I already warned my parents that I will be emptying out the refrigerator at least once. I also submitted a menu of foods I would like to have when I'm home. Of course, I will do this dishes and go grocery shopping in exchange. I will also help with the Thanksgiving meal. No one will have to ask me twice to cook in a kitchen that isn't covered in Easy Mac, Ice Cream,  Ramen Noodle seasoning, and other UFOs (Unidentified Food Objects), or to go to Wegman's. Stop N' Shop just does not compare to Wegman's in any way.
On to the outfit. I got these Falke leggings for free (due to an Asos shipping mix up). They got lost in the mail, so I got my money back. Then the leggings ceased to be lost in the mail (after I had already gotten my money back). YAY! The LA Made leggings are also new. They are most certainly the most comfortable leggings I own. Plus, they're stretchy enough to fit long underwear underneath when it's cold. Perfecto!

I don't know what's right or what's real anymore...

(J. Crew skinny headband, J. Crew black long sleeve shirt, Theory draped wool vest, Calypso St. Barth infinity scarf, GAP jeans)

FREEEEDOM! It's basically Friday (or at least it will be in less than three hours), which means I am SO close to the weekend. Huzzah! I am so excited to finally have time to breathe and to no longer have to choose between sleep and grades.
In other news, I am off to the midnight premiere of Harry Potter tonight. I'm not really a big movie goer, and over the past few years I've lost the majority of my Potter mania, but I am excited nonetheless. To be honest, I am the most excited for a bag of popcorn with a ridiculous amount of butter on it (with the butter layered of course, so I can savour all the buttery goodness).

Do you really want to live forever?

I apologize for the amount of time between posts. This week I was inundated with school work. I had a paper due this week as well as a 20 question organic chemistry problem set due this week. Also, I have a bio exam as well as an organic chemistry exam next week, so I've been studying for those, I have a lab results to verify and use to make derivatives, a bio lab report, and a sociology presentation on animal rights to plan. AAAAND I have dance practice twice a week. I'm in a Bhangara dance group at school, which I love. It's so fun! Being in a dance group is a great way to relieve stress. Jumping around and stomping my feet always seems to do that. Basically, I'm a busy woman, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Onward and upward to the clothing aspect of the blog! I don't have an outfit to post today, as dance pants and moisture wicking tees are not too exciting. However, Christmas presents to myself are exciting (for me and for you too)!

Present #1) Dani Stahl Leggings (via LnA clothing)

I've fully embraced wearing leggings as pants. These leggings are possibly the coolest pants I have ever seen. I am a bit rock n' roll at heart (and hopefully not just a groupie) so getting these made my day. Getting them on sale ALSO made my day.

Present # 2) Suedette Shearling Jacket (via Forever 21)

Excluding a floral mini (very mini) skirt I got bought years ago, this is my first Forever 21 purchase. I have always had mixed feelings about Forever 21. I am not opposed to buying things cheaply, but I usually buy things on sale at Lord & Taylor, GAP, and J. Crew, or I find a vintage version on Etsy. I feel like something that I buy on sale at Lord and Taylor for $20 will last longer than anything I pay $20 for at Forever 21. I really like my clothes to last a long time. Granted, I have a TON of clothes, but I've had several of my pieces for at least 4 years because they were made so well. Also, I don't really like how Forever 21 makes carbon copies of things off the runway, instead of just being inspired by the runway. This jacket is basically my test run for Forever 21. If things go well, maybe I'll buy something else from Forever 21 in the future.

For a moment your eyes open and you know...

(American Eagle Plaid Shirt)

Today I proved that I am actually capable of wearing my hair down. I don't know why I wear my hair down so infrequently.  Here it is in all it's fluffy, curly glory. Coming soon: My (early) Christmas presents to myself.

A ha hush that fuss...

(DIY red ribbon headband, J. Crew white tee, vintage blazer, my roomie's cowboy hat)

(DIY blue jay feather headband [no birdies were harmed in the making of this accessory], Vintage sweater, GAP purple long sleeve shirt)

These are the only pictures I took this week. Sorry! I've been a busy woman, doing this thing called COLLEGE. It's a novel thing really. Plus, this week is homecoming, so apparently, my being busy is never going to stop. I can't promise any pictures of this weekend, but I can promise that I will attempt to be a responsible blogger (which includes feeling obligated to take some pictures). What have I been listening to this week? OutKast's "Rosa Parks." That is all.

But until they close the curtain...

(Vintage lace dress, GAP black tank, DIY blue jay feather headband, Target white lace skirt, Falke sweater knee high socks, Seychelles leather boots, Swiss Army watch)

This post is just a brief interlude in between my much needed studying. My brain really just needs a little break. In other news, I've been listening to "Grenade" by Bruno Mars and "Aquemini" by OutKast on repeat for the past few days. I'm not usually a big Bruno Mars fan, but this song is actually quite good and the harmonies are really nice. I do like the Lisa Lavie version better (check it out on youtube, but overall Bruno Mars' "Grenade" is very good. It's much better than the other music that's out and about right now *cough cough* "We R Who We R" *cough cough*.
I don't know why I hadn't discovered the song "Aquemini" earlier (since OutKast IS my favorite musical duo EVER), but I can honestly say that I was not a legitimate fan of OutKast until that moment. Well, that moment, and the moment I discovered OutKast's "BOB". Andre I love you. You are a genius. Sir Luscious Left Foot, I love you too.

To give me all your love is all I ever asked...

happy halloween!
(John Callnan fedora, Blues Brothers glasses + DIY duct tape, Calypso Celle infinity scarf, Alternative Apparel cardigan, Tommy HIlfiger floral pillow)

I've come to the conclusion that I NEED to stop wearing this hat, or buy another fedora, or both (personally I like the latter). My fedora wearing propensity is kind of a sickness.
In other news, I'm suffering from an actual sickness a.k.a. the common cold (it's all too common if you ask me), so I apologize for the lack of legitimate blog posts. I will go back to posting legitimate outfit commentary as soon as Halloween is over and my job applications are done. I don't remember having to apply for summer jobs this early. Damn recession.
Speaking of Halloween, these nerdy glasses (that I made even nerdier) are part of my costume. I may have some creative outlets (like coloring in my Indie Rock coloring book and this blog OF COURSE), but choosing/designing Halloween costumes is NOT one of them. Last year I was a black cat, and the year before that I was Jimi Hendrix (this was a TOTAL accident... I was really just a hippie and happened to look like Jimi).
I really don't have that much motivation to create an awesome costume. College trick o' treating (for alcohol) is just not equitable to normal trick o' treating (for chocolate/ candy). I'm a chocoholic so OBVIOUSLY I would go for the latter Trick o' Treating option rather than the former. The candy option is mess free and tastier. The decision between super sized candy bars and Keystone Light is not a hard one at all. Now if only it were socially acceptable to trick o' treat as an adult.

On the corner of Grey Street...

(Theory draped Sweater Vest, Ann Taylor cardigan, Vintage beaded headband, Blues Brothers nerd glasses, Swiss Army watch)

Photo Booth and Picnik are my go to cures for boredom. I should be utilizing my organic chemistry notes instead of the two P's, but I'm not. Time to go back to reality. Sigh. I like my little black and white alternate reality. I wonder what the world would look like everything in it was really black and white?

I want you...

I want these. Why haven't I learned to walk in heels? These boots are certainly a serious incentive.

Never mind (the mess).

(John Callnan straw fedora, Abercombie cardigan, Ann Taylor v-neck sweater, Nocona concho belt, Vintage AE pants)

A little bit more love for my favorite hat. I swear that thing never gets old.

We got one last chance to make it real...

(John Callnan fedora, Vintage blazer, Vintage lace mini dress, Swiss Army watch, GAP black and blue leggings, Seychelles boots)

I've been wearing this hat everywhere lately. It's official, I'm obsessed with it. I've decided to invest in a wool version of my fedora so I can wear fedoras year-round.

How can I possibly be inconspicuous...

Photo 11
(Alternative Apparel  Mr. Rogers eco cardigan, DIY college sweatshirt [gift], John Callnan fedora [Lord and Taylor])

I'M BAAAAAACK (well sort of)! I'll post actual outfit pictures ASAP. I promise. Once this lovely thing known as midterm week is O-VAH. P.S. The Model UN conference at Yale was great. Yale's beautiful campus never ceases to amaze me. Plus, I discovered my love of Ethiopian food. Yum! Another discovery? My love of a certain Cee-Lo song. It's genius. Cee-Lo Green... IS a Soul Machine!

Tell me what is wrong...

(Theory Sweater)

I'm really wishing I had picked up this sweater when I was out on a shopping trip with my family the other day. Important rule of thumb: never leave home (or in my case my dorm room) without your wallet because emergencies (especially fashion emergencies) may ensue. Fashion emergencies WILL ensue if you dare to go to the Manchester Outlet Mall sans wallet. I will certainly not make that mistake again.
I did pick up two great new pieces though, despite my lack of wallet (thanks Mom and Dad)! I managed to find a small Kate Spade purse pipped in my school colors (so I can be school spirited and more importantly fashionable OF COURSE), and a lovely sleeveless version of the above Theory sweater. I don't know why it has taken me this long to become a Theory girl. Consider me a convert!
PS. I apologize for the lack of posting. I promise some real posts will come soon, but first it's off to Yale for a Model United Nations Conference. I might be on the best crisis committee ever, the MI-6 spy committee (cue Bond music).

Check me out now (check me out baby)
