Since basically all of my belongings (including my camera) are in my van, waiting to be transfered to my dorm room in the morning, I decided to showcase a few of my favorite items that are available right now. Many of these items are on my fall shopping list. Now, if only I could win the lottery.

I'll need a volunteer, how about you, with the eyes?
Ah, San Francisco, you will be missed. While I was there I took the plethora of cool vintage shops (and other cute shops) for granted. Even though I love my college, with it's location in the majestic Purple Valley, this same location means very limited shopping opportunities. I will be going back to vintage hunting via the Internet. Some of my favorite vintage stores are online, but there is something special about finding a great piece in a store, and getting to hold it, and ogle over it before handing over your cash.

What I wore:
Blazer- Vintage (Painted Bird)
Button Earrings- David Yurman
White T-shirt- J. Crew
Beret- Lord and Taylor
Geode Necklace- California Academy of Sciences

Smoky Quartz/Silver Ring- David Yurman
Pinky Ring w/ Ruby- Vintage
Watch- Swiss Army
Purple Cargo Shorts- Old Navy

Here are a few more odds and ends a la my "Majestic California" tour. I've been using picnik to tweak a few of my pictures and make another poster for my dorm room wall. These pictures are part of the end result...

I Left My Heart In San Francisco.
Today marks the end of the line on my Tauck "Majestic California" tour. This means I will spend many hours in the airport en route to my home on the East Coast. Home never felt so far away. Despite the less than enjoyable air travel, I've had a great time on this trip and have seen a sizable amount of California. Here are a few more shots from my travels this week:
Lombard Street, "the crookedest street in the world". The speed limit is 5 MPH.
Yours truly inside a giant sequoia tree in Mariposa Grove. This tree was over 200 feet tall and so wide that it would take at least ten people to wrap all the way around it. giant sequoias are truly unique trees. They can live to be 3000 years old and can survive fires. The reason giant sequoias can live through a fire is because the wood in the center of the tree, "the heartwood," is not necessary for a giant sequoia's survival. A giant sequoia can live through being hollowed out by a fire, so long as the bark remains in tact. Most sequoias die from toppling over.
What I wore:
White Cardigan- Target
Floral Tank- Romeo and Juliet Couture (TJ Maxx's)
Bow Headband- DIY
Purple Cargo Walking Shorts -Old Navy

Look out of any window...
Haight Ashbury was at the top of my mom's list, so that's where we spent the day. We started off at Ameoba Records, possibly the coolest music store I've ever been in. Being the music lover that I am, I was very impressed. I could have spent some major bucks in that store. Then we stopped at The Sock Shop. I would love to have that place as my sock drawer!
We also made it to Loyal Army, Kid Robot, the Haight T-shirt store, Haight Vintage, and Crossroads Trading Co. I regret not getting a picture of my mom and me in the adorable "Hello From San Francisco" sign. It's one of those signs with the head holes. You can be a super duper cute taco or a box of fries. We're going back to The Haight with our tour, so maybe I'll get the shot then.
Here are a few shots from today. We even made it Jerry Garcia's house on 710 Ashbury St!

Just dropped in...
I spent a great day with my mom in The Mission District of San Francisco today. We walked probably about 20 blocks of Valencia Street and made stops at Painted Bird, Serendipity, and some other cute shops. Here are a few pictures from today. There will be more to come of course.

California here we come...
Tomorrow I head off to California as part of a Tauck Tour with my lovely mother. I haven't been to California since I was about three years old, so I'm super duper excited! I'm not exactly sure what we'll be doing the entire ten days that we are gone, but I do know that we will be stopping at Fisherman's Wharf, Yosemite, Sequoia National Forest, and Monterey. Plus, we're arriving a couple of days early, so my mom and I will be able to mill around San Fransisco. Loyal Army and Painted Bird here I come!

What I wore:
Floppy hat- Lord and Taylor
Blue 3/4 length sweater- GAP (outlet)

It's quite muggy, hence my white on (off) white ensemble. I figured this outfit would be very humidity friendly. Thankfully, I was correct. I'm glad I had an excuse to wear this outfit . The skirt is new, and after I buy something I am always itching to wear it. Usually, I shy away from white and off white things. The absence of color often bugs me. I like my clothes to be bright and a tad "in your face". I'm glad that my "avoiding white habit" was meant to be broken. Maybe I am starting a new habit?
What I wore:
Sunnies- Ray Ban
Earrings- Some store in the Outer Banks
Leopard Print Hair Wrap- Vintage
Watch- Swiss Army
White Tee- J. Crew
Cream Lace Skirt- Target
Gray T-strap flats- Privo! by Clarks

So sentimental, not sentimental no

I haven't been very productive lately, unless embracing my slightly narcissistic tendencies (by using photo booth) counts as being productive. I suppose a little bit of narcissism added to a dash of boredom have helped this little blog go a long way.
This is the longest I have kept up with any of my pieces of writing (with the exception of a book that I've been writing for a few years). My bookshelves are strewn with the beginnings of journals and diaries that never took off. Most of them have the first five pages filled and then... nothing. I also have one electronic journal/ Word Document that is all of two typed pages. I really wish I had kept up with those journals so that in a few years I could look back and laugh at myself. Oh well, maybe in a few years I will be looking back at this blog. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words!
What I wore:
Cashmere beret- Lord and Taylor
Long sleeve tee- Woolrich
Magnifying glass- Mackenzie Childs
iInfinity scarf (hanging from headboard)- Calypso St. Barth

Begging you to sit for a portrait on the wall
I spent the last few days in Queens visiting my fabulous friend Martha. I was so nice to be back in New York City (and a little out of my element) for a few days. I didn't get many pictures, since: A) I frequently forgot my camera when we left the house B) Martha hates getting her picture taken and C) many of the places that we visited did not allow cameras or were super duper congested (or in the case of The Met... BOTH). Of course there are a few shots of my adventures (okay just one of the outfits that I wore on these adventures) and of my acquisitions. ENJOY!
What I wore:
Bright Blue Sweater- Jones NY (Lord and Taylor)
White Dottie Edged Tee- GAP
Sea Foam Shorts- J. Crew
Striped Belt- Anthropologie
Giraffe Print Headband- J. Crew
Blue Aztec Button Headband- DIY
Button Earrings- David Yurman
Bracelet- Gift
Watch with Pink Mother of Pearl Face- Swiss Army (Breast Cancer Timepiece Line)
Red Bag with Leather Trim- Diesel

I got you on my (shopping) list

It's hard for me to think about, but I will be headed back to college in just a few short weeks. I LOVE my school and my friends, but I'm not quite ready to resume my crazy amounts of school work. The best part about going back to school (besides renewing my sense of independence and seeing all my friends) is back to school shopping (OF COURSE)! I have a bigger dorm this year (no more closet/dorm room), so I will probably be picking up a few new trinkets to make my room as awesome as possible. I also have a wish list of clothes and accessories that I would like to add to my room. I can't possibly get them all *SIGH*, but here's what I've been thinking about getting for a while:
1) Rucksack- LL Bean
2) Aztec Ring- All Saints Spitalfields
3) Turquoise Ring- Urban Outfitters
4) Arrowhead ring- Moonshine Hill
5) Bow Tunic Tee- Delia's
6) Rose Ring- Fredflare
7) Spectator Keds- Bloomingdale's
8) Floral Headband- Dorothy Perkins
9) Wooden Bangles- Eco Conscious Market
10) Peacoat Brass Ring- Moxsie
11) Vintage Emmanuelle Khahn Sunglasses
12) Gold Bobby Pins- Juicy Couture
